    Ancestors

  • Taylor, Charles - My Great Great Grandfather, Charles Taylor, was a member of Company M, of the First Conn. Heavy Artillery Regiment. He died of typhoid fever in July of 1862, during the Peninsular Campaign. I'm interested in finding details of the history of his regiment, plus it would be interesting to hear from any other ancestors of members of that regiment. I have about 20 letters my grandfather wrote to his wife before he died. In those letters he writes of building gun emplacements in preparation for the seige of Yorktown among other things. Ancestors

  • Snedeker, Uriah F. - I'm interested in finding a copy of Vaill's regimental history. I know that the New Haven Library used to have a copy. I don't know if it might be available through inter-library loan. But do you have any information about its availability. I have asked a few booksellers to search for it over the years with no success. My grandfather, Uriah F. Snedeker, was a member of the regiment and was wounded at the battle of Cold Harbor. Hence my interest. Rodney G. Snedeker, at Sailrod@aol.com
