47th Missouri U.S. Infantry Regiment
Company F
Ancestors
Burns, Cornelius Green - I have a relative listed as being in Company F of the 47th Missouri Infantry in the Ozark's Heritage. His name is Cornelius Green Burns. He enlisted on August 23 1864 in the Union Army as a Private. He was shot in the right side of the head and tore away part of his ear. He eventually lost the sight and hearing on this side because of the would. He died on June 14, 1897 in Salem, Missouri. Nathan Burns, at: nathanb@writeme.com
MISSOURI CAVALRY UNITS
3rd Missouri U.S. Cavalry Regiment
Company C
Ancestors
Todd, John - My ancestor, John Todd, served in Company C, 3rd Missouri Cavalry. I haven't had much luck finding out about this unit. John was living in Saline County, Mo., in 1858, before going back to help his father in Kentucky deal with anti-abolition mobs around Berea. The family did eventually flee to Cincinnati until the conclusion of the war. John returned to Missouri prior to the outbreak of hostilities, evidently served the Union, then relocated his family to Illinois in November of 1865. I've considered requesting his military records, but hesitate to do so until I can verify that the 3rd Mo. Cav. did exist and that it isn't some mistaken transcription made in Springfield, Illinois, over 60 years after the fact.
Thanks for your help. Tom Todd, Augiluth@aol.com

6th Regiment Missouri Volunteer Cavalry, USA Regiment
Company D
Ancestors
Winfield, Cyrus M. Looking for information on my great great grandfather Cyrus M. Winfield. He was born on December 24th, 1839, and married Barbra E. Dickerson on November 29th, 1860. Enlisting in the Federal Calvary on July 5, 1861 as a private in Co. A at Dade County, MO, he re-enlisted on September 1st at Rolla, MO as a private in Captain Crockett's Co. D, Freemont's battery. He was 21 year old and commissioned as a nurse, Company D, which later became Wrights Battery. He spent some time in Springfield, MO. at battery hospital. The hospital muster roll shows him present Jan. & Feb. of 1863; the Battle of Springfield was Jan. 8, 1863. He later served at Battery Hospital in Trinton, MO. He remained in the war and was honorably discharged on July 16, 1864. He died May 12, 1902 at the age of 61. I'm trying to fill in the gaps in his service.
Also looking for my husband's great great grandfather Fritz Frerking. He was
born August 1837, in Hanover Germany. He came to America at the age of 3. He
served as a Federal soldier, also enlisting at Boonville, Missouri on July 1, 1861 in Captain Beck's Company of Missouri Home Guard under General Lyons. General Lyons was killed Aug. 10, 1861 at the Battle of Wilson's Creek, 10 miles Southwest of Springfield, MO. I am trying to find out if Fritz was in this battle. He took discharge and re-inlisted in Company E of the 7th Missouri Calvary commanded by Colonel Phillips. He was honorably discharged at the end of the war. After the war he became a Bullwacker for the Santa Fe trail. He died Feb. 29, 1916. BROCK BLD, at BROCKBLD@aol.com
10th Missouri Cavalry
Company ?
Ancestors
Woolsey, Solomon - Solomon Woolsey was a member of the 10th Missouri Cavalry. He died in Little Rock, AR in 1863 and was buried there. Does anyone know where Confederate soldiers were buried in that area? Have been unsuccessful in locating a graveyard where he might be buried. I am sure he does not have a tombstone and I would like to place one if I can discover where he is buried, even if it is a mass grave for Confederate soldiers. Everyone deserves to be remembered. He was only 25. Charles Woolsey at Chwoolsey@aol.com
