VERMONT REGIMENTS

17th Vermont Infantry Regiment

Company D

Ancestors

  • Bouchard, Narcisse - My gggfather, enlisted January 26, 1864, and after, re-enlisting at some point, was mustered out January 26, 1868. According to pension papers in the family's possession, he was in Company D, 17th Vermont, also Company D, 26th Regiment (no such Vermont regiment). It is not clear from which state he enlisted. He was French-Canadian, born 1847 in Quebec. He married in 1870 to a woman in Glens Falls, NY; she was born in Pawlet, Rutland, VT. Her brother died in 1864 at Jefferson Barracks, MO. I assume he was from VT? Marvin Brushman, brusman@msn.com
