WEST VIRGINIA REGIMENTS
Ancestors
Raffo, Antonio A. - I have received the Civil War records of my ancestor from the National Archives. Antonio A Raffo enlisted as a Privte of Company G, 6th Regiment, West Virginia Volunteers, subsequently made Sargeant of Company G, then discharged September 16,1864 at Wheeling, W.VA. He then enlisted in the 17th West Virginia Infantry and was made 2nd Lt. of Company C. His obituary said he was employed as a drillmaster by the State of West Virginia (He had been in the Crimean War). Can you tell me where I can get more detail about him? Perhaps a roster of either outfit? Or some State military records? Assuming he was employed by the State as a drillmaster, would that be on record somewhere? Thanks for any help or suggestions you can give me. Flora Thomas, fthoma@flash.net
